Philippians 1:12-30
In these scriptures Paul reassures the Philippi church not to be discouraged with his imprisonment.
Paul took the opportunity to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ no matter his situation; he also encouraged everyone to do the same. In this manner those in the Lord Jesus Christ can be encouraged to speak courageously without fear in regards to the gospel.
Paul was in chains for a cause, for the true gospel of Jesus Christ. He did not conform to the “law”, he spoke what he knew to be true and righteous. For this reason, people talked about his “purpose in chains”. If you are willing to suffer imprisonment for a cause such as this, there must be some validity……. it must be worth it. Of course it caused people to question and that gave Paul the opportunity to speak to them about Jesus.
Paul is joyous and thankful for everyone’s prayers. He is also confident that he will be delivered.  In II Timothy 3:10-11 Paul reminds Timothy about the persecutions he suffered,  but he also states in verse 11b “And out of them all the Lord delivered me.” This confidence kept Paul going no matter where he was or what was going on around him. Whether in life or in death he knew that God would deliver him. What’s to fear when you know that?
Although Paul was confined, he didn’t allow that to define him. (Paul wasn’t recognized as a prisoner, he was distinguished as a minister)  He was not ashamed of his imprisonments for he knew they were all for God’s purpose. Paul never stopped conducting himself worthy of Christ and neither should we.
Whether it be emotional, physical or situational there are times when we will experience suffering. When suffering, do you allow the walls that confine you to define you? Free yourself from the chains. Don’t wallow in self pity, anger or depression. Conduct yourselves worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ, no matter the situation. Do this and people will notice……..people will even ask. Believe it or not, the gospel will be spread just from your conduct and when it does, you will begin to notice God’s divine purpose among your suffering.
Be joyous no matter what happens and walk worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Be courageous and do not fear. Proverbs 11:8 The righteous is delivered from trouble, And it comes to the wicked instead.”  As long as you are conducting yourself righteously you will be delivered. But remember that God’s plan of deliverance may not be how YOU picture it to be. Be confident and know that your deliverance is what God has foreordained.
Be thankful and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ in all that happens and in all you do.
“giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,” Ephesians 5:20
“Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name.” Psalms 97:12
Don’t fear or slander prison walls. Follow and trust in Jesus Christ – HE is your jail breaker.
